About De Colores Co.
De Colores Collective was founded in early 2017 as the product of three Mexican-American creatives coming together in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas, eager to unify the arts and culture sector in a fresh and radically unique way.
Original founders Eva Arreguin, Pat Arreguin, and Rafael Tamayo noticed there was a lack of spaces in support of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color narrative storytelling, art, and ability to gather in a reclamation of culture, identity, and in celebration of life
from a Latinx lens.
Through the platform they established most notably a podcast, De Colores Radio, a series of concept-driven art shows called Grey Space, and events and conversations consistently centering equity, healing, Black and brown identities, and culture. Other events previously included 214 Selena, the Woman of Color Comedy Show, and film screenings, always with race, gender, sexuality, and mental health on the forefront in hopes of true community transformation.
In 2020, as De Colores Collective had just come off a Dallas Observer Best Podcast award, participation in a local play, and a Good Morning Texas highlight, the COVID 19 global pandemic hit. The grassroots, event-based podcast came to a hiatus and De Colores’ work focused in on local organizing as they continued to help lead the fight for arts and justice in the community with movements like Our City, Our Future and #SaveOC3.
In May 2021 sisters Eva and Pat Arreguin, with the support of fellow community members, relaunched De Colores Radio and came back with an eager mindset to lean even more into healing, joy, and transformation through the power of storytelling, creative expression, and solidarity. In 2021 the sister duo began to manage musician Pretty Boy Aaron and continued to prove that possibilities are endless for this people-motivated powerhouse. In late 2022, they decided to wrap their beloved De Colores Radio to continued rave reviews. De Colores Collective is excited for the further evolution that is possible in the world of arts revolution.
